You don't need wild attraction for a relationship to work

Attraction is important in relationships, no doubt about it.

Yet, there's something to be said about the dangers of being consumed by a blazing, all-consuming desire. That level of intensity, where your legs turn to jelly and your heart skips a beat, isn’t usually a good omen. In fact, it can unleash a Pandora's box of old wounds and destructive patterns.

The captivating allure of this chemical attraction can trigger a tumultuous dance with your past. It pulls you into a chaotic tango where your insecurities and attachment wounds take center stage. It tempts you to morph into a version of yourself that you believe they desire, all while desperately concealing anything you fear they may reject. It's a disorienting game of becoming whatever you think they want, all in the hopes they choose you.

But let's consider a different scenario. Imagine discovering someone who you find objectively attractive, but that overpowering chemical element is lacking. In this realm, instant visions of a future together don't cloud your judgment. You're liberated from the shackles of protection and fears of losing their interest. With nothing to lose, you don't risk anything by showing up as your true self.

When you find that rare connection that resonates at a depth far beyond superficial sparks and fleeting chemistry, something transformative occurs. It compels you to shed the masks and facades, inviting you to step into the radiant light of authenticity. You’re unapologetically yourself, and can be loved just as you are.

In this realm, love transcends the superficial. It transcends the need to impress or fit into someone else's mold. Instead, it becomes a celebration of mutual understanding, empathy, and acceptance. It's a journey where two souls intertwine, embracing each other's quirks, flaws, and unique qualities. It's a love that sees beyond fleeting infatuations, forging a connection that withstands the tests of time.

When I first met my husband, there were no instant butterflies, just enjoying each other’s company. Time spent together was effortless, sparking a captivating connection. I felt safe being my authentic self, quirks and all. Surprisingly, those quirks became what he cherished. With each passing day, my liking turned into deep attraction. Our relationship grew stronger, surpassing expectations. Today, he's the most attractive man in the universe, irreplaceable by anyone.

The mad whirlwind of attraction doesn’t guarantee a lasting connection. It is the resonance that occurs when two hearts align in a space beyond the shallow currents of physical chemistry. It beckons you to show up, unapologetically and authentically, and allows you to be loved for the beautifully flawed, wonderfully unique individual that you are.
